Nilssi – High Born Voyage EP mastering

A hard-hitting voyage through the mind of Nilssi

We were delighted when Antilounge Records’ Martijn Verlinden asked us to master their 19th release: Nilssi’s High Born Voyage EP.

Nilssi’s unique mixture of jungle, reggaeton, grime and dancehall, and bold, no nonsense production style created a nice challenge for 0L4F’s mastering skills: to maximize the impact of the sparse, but genius arrangements, where actually everything cuts through the mix.

Some tracks were mixed so well that they required minimum post work, and others proved more of a challenge.

We’re very pleased with the end result: a hard-hitting voyage through the mind of Nilssi, that now comes together as a single, focused journey.

Campaign photography was shot on location, and most locations were shot with and without models. With this material, we figured it would be a nice effect to zap the models into the scene one by one, accompanied by a flash whiteout.

“A voice is rarely the first ‘instrument’ that comes to mind. But in the right hands, and through steady application, a voice becomes the ultimate expression through sound.”

0L4F – The First Time I Saw Your Moment

During a meeting with the Haags Pop Centrum about their new ‘SuBmarine’ alternative popmusic website, they mentioned it would be fun if there was a simple, submarine themed shoot-em-up included in the site. The game should have a bizarre, surreal and submarine atmosphere, and you should be able to, you know, shoot things.
